Trash to Cash Overview
Trash to Cash is a year round fundraising effort at DHCS. This program has been earning funds for our PTSA, as well as educational items for DHCS staff and students since 2001. Trash to Cash currently encompasses the General Mills Box Tops for Education, Campbell's Labels for Education, Tyson Project A+, Nestle Go Play, and Kash for Kids programs. To earn the funds and merchandise, we simply ask our parents, staff, and students to save various items outlined below that would normally end up in the trash. These items should then be submitted to your child's teacher. The PTSA sponsors quarterly incentive contests for the students who bring in the most items and twice per year incentive contests in which the teacher whose class brings in the most items wins a prize. Prizes for both contests are usually gift certificates to family friendly businesses. For more information on these programs, please see the individual sections below. If you still have further questions regarding the Trash to Cash program, please email our Trash to Cash Coordinator, Angie Mone.

Campbell's Labels For Education™
Campbell's Labels for Education can be found on a variety of products including Campbell's, Swanson, Pepperidge Farms, Prego, and more. The portion of the package that needs to be submitted, varies by product. In most cases, we ask that you save the UPC, but sometimes we may need the lid. Desert Heights PTSA then redeems the labels for educational merchadise from a special catalog. Each school year, Desert Heights staff members have the opportunity to view the catalog and make suggestions on what should be purchased with the labels we have collected. Some of the items we have purchased to date include books, videos, a digital camera, workroom equipment, and a sports score board. For more information on this program including a list of participating products and what portion of the package to save, please visit the Campbell's Labels for Education website.
Tyson Project A+™
Tyson Project A+ Panels can be found on Tyson frozen chicken products and Tyson lunchmeats. Each A+ panel we send in is worth .24 cents to Desert Heights PTSA. For more information on this program, including a complete product list and examples of where to clip the labels, please visit the Tyson Project A+ website.
Nestle Go Play
For the Nestle Go Play program, we need parents to save labels from individual bottles of Nestle Pure Life water products. Each label is worth 2 points. With the points earned from the labels, Desert Heights PTSA can purchase sports equipment or use them toward transportation costs for field trips. For more information on this program, please visit the Nestle Go Play website.
Green School Project
The Green School Project collects used cell phones, ink jet printer cartridges and laser printer cartridges. They will pay Desert Heights PTSA cash for each item collected. For more information on this program, please visit the Green School Project website.
